Drug Addicted Carnies also need rehabilitation resources

In my chosen profession known as carnival for all, there are quite a few drug addicts. This is how it is mainly because most women receive some amount of payment every day, no matter what they do.

If you work on trips and meals and other salaried positions, you will be given a raffle every day. If someone works games, known as agents, they usually receive a commission paid based on what they bring. In any case, you get money at the end of the night just after the carnival closes for the day.

That night you will see a lot of activity around the barracks where all the help sleeps. Some simply do not tend to sleep at night until they have no money left, which is usually more towards the morning. On a great night, people who work in games in general have more money, since they are usually paid their entire commission every night. People who work on salaries have a payday where they receive what they did not receive in the draws during the week. Either way, when addicts have a lot of cash, they will normally be active until dawn. Many people in our business compare these addicts with vampires.

Whenever the carnival is near a neighborhood that has a multitude of drug dealers, it is very easy for addicts to get their dose of what they like. Some even have fronts. For those who don’t know, a front is credit. A large majority of carnies that have fronts are agents. The reason why an agent can get a front is because he usually takes part of the money, since he receives it from the clients, as the day progresses. He will then take that money to the local distributor and ask for a little more with the story that he is still paid that night.

Obviously, some cities have better fairs than others. Sometimes, dealers in that city earn a lot of money with these carnies. In fact, they have done so much in the past that some of them followed the show to the next city. Some of these traffickers ended up joining the carnival due to that revenue explosion.

I have heard that people who use cocaine, also known as crack, often pursue the original feeling they experienced since their first time. I have been told that after that high or original feeling, they never experience it again in the same way. Most distributors that sell crack generally earn money, no matter how good the fair or festival is, due to people who still pursue that original feeling. The dealer following the sales fair is also chasing, but is chasing that original stack of cash.

Many people do not realize that every show that plays big fairs has a drug policy. In fact, they even have random drug tests. Mainly for insurance purposes, since it reduces your trip and the intermediate insurance that some tests perform. Sometimes they will use these tests when someone has done something recently, which makes them undesirable. Then they test that person, who will probably fail, as a method to fire the individual at hand. Most shows do not worry so much if an agent takes hard drugs because he is not operating attractions. In general, they are very concerned when they find out about transportation personnel in some form of illegal substance.

A few larger shows will lead a school for children traveling with the show. The program hires a teacher and the teacher travels with the program giving classes to school-age children to whom parents travel with the program. There are currently no rehabilitation programs traveling with the shows. Current rehabilitation involves pressuring participants in an effort to embarrass them and alert them to their problem. This is not working as well as an education, I do not think so. With a good program, carnivals could prevent these narcotics from making their way into people’s mouths, noses and veins.

Personally, I know several people in my business who have been taking hard drugs. These people found ways to quit smoking. Some have gone to treatment centers in the off season and others found themselves to quit smoking. Each of them will talk about when to quit smoking and will include how positive it has been to quit smoking. Most programs that help people quit hard drugs are led by former abusers. Maybe that’s what the big carnivals should do. Get the boys and girls who know they are rehabilitated to spend time with current users every week.
